Spring is the Season for Wild Game Dining in Dallas

Dallas is typically known for offering the best in Texas dining. One of the most popular choices of restaurants is the Dallas steakhouse. While a perfect cut of beef served in a restaurant full of classy ambiance may be the usual selection, Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse is here to talk about wild game dining.

Our menu not only boasts the best ranch-raised meats, but also has a wide selection of wild game options for those with more specific and adventurous taste buds.

What Counts as Wild Game

When most people see the words “wild game” on a menu, meats like venison and buffalo usually come to mind. In fact, wild game is technically native game animals that live in the wild. Therefore, if it was raised on a ranch, it isn’t wild game.

Major game animals in Texas are:

  • Deer
  • Bighorn Sheep
  • Javelina
  • Alligators

Wild game is also inclusive of smaller animals like birds and squirrels.

What Are the Benefits of Wild Game Dining?

Although there are many benefits to eating red meat, there are also a slew of benefits to consuming a well-prepared cut of wild game.

1. Leaner Than Most Meats

Since wild animals spend most of their time walking and running around in their natural habitats, they are a leaner cut of meat. Even if you see the words “organic” and “free-range” on the label of your food, this organic label doesn’t necessarily mean that it is wild game or completely GMO free. Free-range could still mean that the animal had limited access where it was allowed to roam.

2. No Need to Think About Antibiotics and Hormones

Many farm-raised meats are unfortunately raised on antibiotics and hormones that make the meat seem better when it is served. One of the main reasons that some people enjoy wild game dining is that they don’t have to even think twice about what Is in their food aside from meat.

3. Reduced Chances of Foodborne Illness

Food poisoning is an issue that is very prevalent with factory farmed animals that are not fed a natural diet. Many of these animals live in cramped, dirty environments that open them up to being diseased once their meat hits the market.

Meats from factories are at risk for salmonella poisoning and E. coli. Sadly, both of these bacteria have become prevalent in many of our consumed chicken and ground beef products.
