YO Steakhouse Dallas Restaurant Week: A Decade Old Tradition

Dallas is a large, beautiful city full of beautiful people and culture. From outrageous fried food at the Texas State Fair to the Lower Greenville parades, our city has many cherished traditions. As a restaurant in Downtown Dallas, we pride ourselves on being a part of as many of these traditions as possible. One of our favorites, however, is DFW Restaurant Week. This year marks the annual event’s 20th anniversary and a decade of our participation.

About DFW Restaurant Week

DFW Restaurant Week is a yearly, 3-week event during which hungry diners can enjoy a delicious three-course prix fixe dinner or a two-course lunch. Over 100 of the finest restaurants across Dallas and Fort Worth participate each year, including your favorite Dallas steakhouse, giving diners the opportunity to try new restaurants they may never have thought to before. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the annual charity campaign. But perhaps the greatest thing about DFW Restaurant Week is their dedication to making the world a better place. This year, 20% of each meal was donated to the North Texas Food Bank in the Dallas area and Lena Pope in Tarrant County, helping local children and families in need.

About the Cause

In 2016 alone, DFW Restaurant week raised $700,000 for the North Texas Food Bank and Lena Pope. North Texas Food Bank, one of the largest nonprofit organizations in North Texas, is a hunger relief organization that distributes donated, purchased and prepared foods through a network of nearly 1,000 feeding programs and 262 Partner Agencies in 13 North Texas counties.

While NTFB aims to support the nutritional needs of children, families, and seniors, Lena Pope’s mission is to help create hope, happiness, and success for children and families. They do this  through a variety of services focused on counseling and education. With 20% of the proceeds going to NTFB and Lena Pope, DFW Restaurant Week is a tradition that can directly change lives.

What Can I Do to Help?

Although DFW Restaurant Week only runs once a year, there is still plenty you can do to continue supporting the cause year-round. North Texas Food Bank offers several opportunities for donors to contribute, from hosting a canned food drive to writing letters, scheduling a monthly food donation, and daily volunteer openings at their facility. Lena Pope also welcomes donations in the form of in-kind donations and volunteering.

YO Steakhouse is proud to announce that since we began participating in DFW Restaurant Week 10 years ago, we have raised over $60,000 to help those in need in Dallas and Fort Worth; and we are committed to increasing that number year after year. Join us for next year’s DFW Restaurant week and be sure to stop by for lunch or dinner in the meantime!
