The legendary restaurant, Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse, has a new game for North Texas diners. Established in 1996, the restaurant is one of the most successful restaurants in Dallas history. Chef/Owner Tony Street is bringing local diners to the restaurant in scores not only for the great steaks and seafood, but also to try items that are not on the standard menu of a usual steakhouse.
Long known for serving the finest buffalo filet mignon in America and verified last year when Food Network named it the best, the restaurant continues to branch out and offer new menu items featuring game sourced specifically from the Y.O. Ranch in Mountain Home, Texas and also from around the nation.
“We are constantly improving our menu,” says Street, “including not only game specials but also adding new and exciting items permanently”.
On the appetizer menu you will find such exotic and delicious items as: venison roll-ups, pheasant ravioli, creek bottom frog legs and buffalo carpaccio. Entrees include: an amazing elk chop in blueberry cognac, quail in plum sauce and even South Texas raised antelope in figs and port wine. Specials frequently feature other forms of game such as ostrich and rabbit.
“Game is healthier than standard beef or other forms of protein”, says Street, “and it is also greener and more sustainable when farmed responsibly such as we do on the Y.O. Ranch itself. Also, our diners are amazed at how fresh and delicious game can be. Once they try it we see our guests again and again ordering new game items.”
The Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse serves all cuts of the very top beef steaks in town and also excellent fowl and gulf seafood. The Filet Dynamite with crabmeat and asparagus is not to be missed and the Cowboy Cut Ribeye is a Texas favorite. The Gulf Coast Shrimp is a house specialty and seasoned in a secret Y.O. Ranch spice recipe. Sides include such traditional favorites as portobello mushrooms, gouda mac and cheese and an absolutely unbelievable smoked baked potato.
The restaurant showcases incredible Texas memorabilia and items including chandeliers and sconces of deer horns from the real Y.O. Ranch; however the ambiance avoids Texas kitsch and strives to provide a real Texas feel and give local diners a destination restaurant for business and pleasure.
In addition, manager Gary Bellomy has been diligently working to turn the wine list from excellent to simply world class, creating a cellar of over 350 bottles.
One of the largest ranches in America and the largest game preserve in U.S. existence, the Y.O. Ranch (established in 1880) outside of San Antonio has been affiliated with the Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse since its inception.
