Tips and Ways to Marinade Your Steak Like a Steakhouse Pro

A great cut of beef has an all-natural flavor that could make anyone salivate in anticipation. However, the perfect steak is one that has a taste that stands out with the help of a tasty marinade.

If you’ve been grilling this summer with seasoning and fire alone, we’re not saying you’re doing it wrong; there are simply better ways! Here’s a look at what you’ll need to create some of the finest marinades in Texas, and how to use them in your cooking to perfection!

Storing Your Marinade

Before you start making your marinade, figure out how you’re going to store your meat in all of these delicious juices. Depending on how long your marinating process is, some ways of storing a marinade are:

  • Bowls
  • Meal prep containers
  • Gladware
  • Zip-Loc bags

You’ll want to keep your marinades and meat as fresh as possible, so unless you plan on cooking your steak the day-of, the more air-tight the container, the better.

Cold Brew Marinade

Not sure what to do with that leftover cold brew you have sitting around the house? Make it a marinade! Wake up your steak today with a coffee-blend marinade that’s simple to throw together.

What you’ll need:

  • ¾ cup cold brew coffee
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp onion powder

Chimichurri

Chimichurri sauce has always been a steak staple. Now, you can slather your steak in this flavor and have it tantalizing taste buds the second dinner is served.

While you can just rest your meat in a chimichurri sauce, making the marinade is what makes the difference. This marinade is a little more complex than the usual fair, but trust us when we say that the juice is worth the squeeze!

What you’ll need:

  • ½ cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 3 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 finely chopped shallot
  • 1 finely chopped red jalapeno
  • 2 cups minced cilantro
  • 1 cup minced parsley
  • ⅓ cup chopped oregano
  • ¾ olive oil

Cooking With Your Marinade

You want your steak to completely soak up the marinade you’ve created! So, make sure that you’re starting the process off right!

  • Never attempt to marinate a frozen steak
  • Always thaw your steak properly. Don’t nuke your steak in the microwave

Above all, if you choose to baste your steak with the marinade, make a fresh batch that hasn’t touched your raw meat. Cross-contamination is never anything you want on your menu, so remember to prep your steak wisely!
