Yo Reviews

I can’t begin to tell you how great our event turned out – thanks to you and your more than capable and wonderful staff! EVERYONE ~ and I mean EVERYONE ~ was extremely helpful and accommodating, no matter what the request.

Steve, Roderick, well – your entire staff are gems, and every restaurant should take a sheet out of your playbook on hospitality. You could tell, because none of our guests or staff wanted to leave! They even blew off the tour of Dallas Stadium and the ASIS party there.

The bar? (your custom potions!) The food? Do I have to tell you??!! Raves all night long. Every morsel was a mouthful of savory deliciousness. You should really branch out. NY, Philly, etc. I only wish you were in every city we do this show in! You can rest assured that every time we’re in Dallas, you’ll be our annual event venue.

Thanx once again, for your exemplary service, food, and attitude!

Everybest . . .

Gabrielle & all of Security-Net!

Among the many great things that the Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse has to offer, one of our most adored amenities we have is our beautiful outdoor patio! It is set up in one of the best areas of our restaurant and offers a cool and relaxing atmosphere, in addition to providing a wonderful view of the West End/Market Street area. During these breezy spring days, our beloved patio area would be the perfect setting for a lunch break or an outdoor get together, while enjoying some of our great menu choices and specials of the day. With an extensive bar line up, it would also serve as a great place to enjoy a drink or two;)

So, I invite you to stop by the Y.O. and enjoy our special patio area that we have set up just for you! And indulge in some springtime appetizer treats and cocktails, while taking in the beautiful view of Dallas. We have cherished it for years and we would like for you and yours to have even better experience with us outdoors, so that you may want to make it your most favorite area too! Hope to have you drop by soon, as always, we’d love to have you!

I learned today how a steak should taste. I hope this doesn’t ruin future steaks.”

“I ate at this restaurant based on a recommendation from a local that I met the night before.  The food was awesome! I had the Buffalo Filet Mignon which was tender and flavorful!!! The Banana Fosters was good even though they dont make it in front of you. Great service and the decor was like Claim Jumpers on overdrive but it was not cheesy.  The overall clientele was a bit formal but they will accept casual (I was in a polo shirt, jeans, & tennis shoes) I would definitely go back again when I visit Dallas again.”

“We left the Y.O. very satisfied with every aspect of our dining. The service was outstanding with a smile. We enjoyed the homemade jalapeno cornbread. We ordered the seafood bisque soup followed by the grilled salmon fillet served with a delicious lobster sauce. Every bite was delicious leaving us to full to order one of many mouth watering desserts. Thank you for a 4 star dinning experience. We will be back!

Pros: Professional and friendly staff members
Cons: NONE”

“As a transplant to Dallas; via Kansas City & Nebraska, I know a few things about steak! As a well traveled gastronomist, I was very pleased with my experience at the YO Ranch Steakhouse. Not only was it an authentic western ambiance, it was very educational, informative, & very informal. Very pleasing, given your initial impression when walking in. The wait staff is very knowledgable about wild game, wine and the delightful culinary complimentary relationship between the two. When I arrived I was directed to the bar until my table was ready. At the bar, i was delighted to meet a very professional bartender that treated myself and my party as if we were the most important guests in the establishment! This hospitality began before a single drink was ordered. Upon seating, my entire dining experience was in control of my server. Which I thoroughly appreciated as a first time guest. He guided me through the entire menu and specials and paused to thoroughly answer any questions we had! This was just the service…..wait till you try the food! This was the most enjoyable experience I have ever had spending money! Between the service and the product, I am a customer for life and encourage anyone that has not experienced the YO Ranch Steakhouse to do so!! You will not be disappointed.
Sincerely,
A grateful guest, Thank you!”

Pros: Five star experience in a casual atmosphere!
Cons: to be honest….none!

“This place is becoming, by far, one of my favorite restaurants in the entire state!! I’ve been around long enough to know a thing or two spottin something special when it comes a long….. and let me tell you — This place hits the nail on the head! Their steaks are all very different and all very good. The Mac and Cheese is to die for. The deserts are mouthwatering. The history of the Ranch for which this place was named is unparralled. The only thing I don’t absolutely love is the Mashed Potatoes… But my late husband loved them, so maybe give them a try and decide for yourself. Overall though, I’m tellin ya, this is one heck of a place. Here’s a “Thank ya Darlin” to whoever’s idea this place was. Yall do a good job so stick to your guns.
Pros: Food, Location, Deco, Service, Wine Selection
Cons: Not open for breakfast”

Yelp Reviews

My wife and I went to this place based on the reviews on yelp, and it did not disappoint.  Our server, Kelsey, is the best server ever (Steven, give her a raise) Not only did she give us amazing service, but as it was my first time in Dallas, she went out of her way to make the experience a “proper Dallas welcome”. Samples of various wines were involved.

They are supposedly known for their bison fillet, but we didn’t try that because had been craving fillet mignon and stayed with that.  And it was heavenly.  Our fillet was so tender and flavorful that we could cut it with a fork.  The Dijon Brussel sprouts are incredibly good — even my wife who hates brussel sprouts loved them.

The manager Steven also came to make sure we were having an amazing experience.  Great guy –  he runs a good restaurant and really cares about his customers.

We are definitely coming back next time we’re in Dallas. If you can, ask for Kelsey – she’ll take good care of you, but get in line because she already told us that we’re her favorite customers ;-).

P.s. — totally better than The Palm.  Skip it and just go here.

A few of my high school friends, class of 64 and I had a girls day out at the west end a few days ago. We ended up at the Y.O, steakhouse for lunch. It was cloudy and not that hot so we sat out side in the patio. What great fun that was for a bunch of old friends. When the waiter found out we all knew each other from high school, he could not believe we had stayed in contact with each other that long. We were pretty much acting like we did in school and he seemed to get a kick out of it and treated us like royalty. Even the owner came out to say hello and thanked us for picking his restaurant for our little mini reunion.

Sandy, my best friend , suggested we split a buffalo steak. After one round of margaritas I was feeling a little adventurous so I said okay.

Let me tell you that was the best steak I have ever put in my mouth. I was sorry I hadn’t ordered a whole one for myself. We sampled each others food, old friends can do that, and everything was delicious.

They made us feel special and served us wonderful food. Good friends great food and a special day I”ll remember for a long time. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Yelp

YO YO YO this place is off the chain!!!

After the Bodies exhibit..it was time to grub..
This is my “Last Meal Wish List”:

Ravioli with walnuts appertizer is 4 pieces of 2 inch wide pasta goodness…hmmm…

The Buffalo Carpaccio has the perfect amount of vinagrette-just right…I wanted to die right there…

The Gouda Macaroni resembles a home-cooked recipe…

The mouth watering Top Sirloin steak was FABULOUS TOO!!!

My boyfriend and I shared all this goodness for under $70… SOO Worth a trip out to Dallas again.”

“I absolutely love Y.O. Steakhouse! My boyfriend and I eat here pretty frequently and we’ve never had a bad experience. The atmosphere is great and the service is, too. Our favorite menu items are Sal’s Soft Tacos for an appetizer (filled w/ queso and wild boar sausage) and the buffalo filet mignon for an entree.”

“I just had one of the most interesting dinners of my life at this place. The whole dinner was good but my entree was spectacular. I had Nilgai Antelope (from south Texas) with a fresh fig port wine reduction. I will be back at this place next time I am in the area.”

“In town for a conference Feb ‘09, ate here twice. First meal was the buffalo filet – out of this world, best filet ever…honestly. Second meal was the ‘taster’ not the right name but you got buffalo filet, venison chops and quail. I swapped the quail for boar sausage. All 3 were cooked to perfection (had quail as a starter…was ok, but didn’t want in for dinner also). Next time I’m in Dallas, will be back for that buffalo…yummy.”

Two thumbs up! Not only is the decor of the restaurant pure Texas, the menu is as well. Naturally, the finest prime-aged beef serves as the culinary foundation and is prepared in the fashion of chuck wagon grilling. My partners and I were amazed.”

Dallas Steakhouse Restaurant Review on TripAdvisor

“We ate here before the Texas Stampede rodeo at the American Airlines Center nearby. It is a nice little place in the West End. Steak house without all the stuffiness! The decor is Texana after the ranch of the same name. The music is Texas/country-fits the decor. Still manages to be nice and provide an elegant feel.

The service was prompt and friendly. We missed out on the wine, would have liked to see the half bottle or single glass of our bottle on the list. The Louie’s venison appetizer was AWESOME! We loved it. We were skeptical, but were convinced quickly. The buffalo filet was a little overcooked, but unique. Try it at one lower setting (medium, medium/well) than you are used to and it should be fine. Lobster was great. The Jack Daniel’s pecan pie was a nice touch. I would love to try the sweet potato cheese cake next time.

Mid to upper range price wise depending on what and how many courses you get.
5$ valet parking in front is the same as the surface lot behind the restaurant??
A good experience and a nice touch for the West End.”

Now that we’ve got your mouth watering, don’t wait for a special occasion! Make a reservation at YO Ranch Steakhouse now!

“I’ve had some great steaks in Chicago, New York and so forth, but this place takes the cake.
Unlike the aged beef steaks these babies come right from their own ranch daily. No freezer just fresh beef so soft you can cut it with your knife.
Everyone I send there is blown away.
Can’t wait to fly to Dallas again soon”

“We love a great steakhouse and are always happy when we find something unique that sets a local one apart from the upscale chains. Surprisingly, the thing that set this place apart was the smoked mashed potatoes! Of course, the buffalo filet was outstanding but the potatoes were so good we actually ordered a second plate! The selection of game is great if you’re feeling adventurous. The buffalo filet is absolutely worth it. Our waiter was the best (can’t remember his name, but he’s a Philly transplant), and we would definitely go back. Soooooooo glad we didn’t bother with Morton’s!”
